The College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science opened its doors to prospective students and their parents for its annual Open Day. Aimed at high school learners, the event sought to promote the college and its programmes. Academic staff and current students were on hand to provide information on college degrees and career opportunities. As a centre for science education, STEC@UKZN also exhibited to promote careers in science. The Central Applications Office (CAO) and the College Academic Services were present to advise students on application procedures; and Student Support Services offered their counselling services. Members of industry (and future employers) were invited to inform attendees about career prospects and recruitment opportunities offered to students in the college. The South African Police Services, Autodesk and eThekwini municipality were some of the external exhibitors that engaged with the learners. The event successfully enlightened prospective students on the programmes offered, research being done and career paths available at the College of Agriculture, Engineering and Science. These events seek to attract the best Science and Maths students. By inspiring greatness, the college hopes to help these students reach their full potential and kick start their careers.
