Dr Peter Douglas from Swansea University visited the School for six weeks in June and July 2009 as part of the UK-SA Science Network Programme in order to establish research links with Professor Bice Martincigh. Whilst here he delivered a very stimulating talk to members of the local South African Chemical Institute and students entitled: “A little bit of colourful chemistry.”

Professor Reuben Simoyi from Portland State University visited the School from July to October 2009. Whilst in the School he taught the second year Physical Chemistry module (CHEM230) and continued his research collaboration with Professors Jonnalagadda and Martincigh. He also acted as external examiner for our Honours Project module (CHEM791). During his spare time he enjoyed some leisure time at the Durban Country Club.
